The Navy deploys a ruggedized video-based tracking system that, because of its low-power requirements, employs a multi-month battery. It includes seismic “wakeup” capabilities with a motion detection rapid on/off function that monitors ground movement. The resulting video signal utilizes frame-by-frame encryption and 128-bit compression. The video is uplinked via ground-to-satellite communications to command headquarters.
